Default Is drifting really racing?

[puts on flame retardant suit]

Well congrats to you guys. you have your own forum now, and no sarcasm (yes thats hard to believe), i think it will be good for you guys.

However, I see that it has been grouped in with forums for REAL forms of racing. yet it is not. even the "D1 grand prix" isnt racing. The REAL forms of racing all have one thing in common...time. time is your worst enemy. you want to be able to make it a set distance in less time than anyone else. the only exception to this in endurance racing where it is kinda opposite...most distance possible in a set amount of time. this is the thing that makes racing in my mind...being able to be QUANTIFIABLY better than the next guy. whether that is by 3 seconds or by 3 laps. there is a quantifiable difference between you and the other guy. and at the end of the day you cal look at the guy you beat and say....i was better/faster than you today and here is the proof.

Drifitng on the otherhand has no quantifiable entity. it's all about who looks better, or who the judges like better. i mean it's basically figureskating or synchronized swimming...but with cars. i mean if you really look at drifting it's just another socialistic trash sport where "everyone can compete" and "everyone can do well" that's crap. real competitions are about who can get there first, or can score the most runs. but it seems you guys are completely content to allow some god-like judges tell you who is better. i mean it's a giant popularity contest.

What are the things that would even be quantifiable if you wanted to make drifing REAL racing?

who can get around the track faster? well then no one would drift they would all be driving the appropriate line to go faster.

Who can bur their tires down to the cords faster? nope...then it would just be a burnout contest where people would just sit there and do revlimit, 5th gear burnouts till the tires pop.

Who can wreck their car faster? i can only imagine thatwoudl just result in people drivign their cars into the nearest wall (dale style) at the drop of the green.

So how bout it drifters? what makes your hobby so great? because form my point of view it just seems liek a good way to wreck your car, burn up tyres, and never get any proof to show someone that you owned their ass.
