Drop differential, open case, rotate outputs until you can read the two numbers stamped on the ring gear. Divide the larger number by the smaller number and that's your ratio. Counting the pinion teeth and ring gear teeth and dividing them works too if you can't see the stamping but that involves taking the differential apart.
EX. For your case: 47/12 = 3.916 (j30 alert)
