just a lil piece of dirt or particle will clog the expansion valve. i honestly would change it. take some lines apart get a air hose and just blow them out. the compression fitting was venting due to the high side being to high. Its a pressure relief valve. Don't worry it was just doing its job. How long ago did you replace the expansion valve? Was it a new one? IF old it might be a r12 expansion valve. At any event get a new expansion valve try cleaning the lines out. Pull a vacuum.. and no pulling a vacuum will not tell you if you have stuff in the system. You have to make sure you don't by cleaning out all the lines and making sure. Id clean the lines all the way to the compressor.
Finished putting in a new expansion valve and drier system is now being vacuumed down right now,The old expansion valve was at least 2years old.Ill try cleaning out the lines as well.

Did you use r134 that has a uv dye in it? Also, is the ac fan turning on? If it was ever opened you should invest in a new dryer and have it vacuumed to 25+ micron's.
I replaced all the o-ring seals in the system, and just refilled the system. The air was cool but not cool. After getting with an A/C tech at my job we vacuumed the system to 200 microns and refilled it with freon and oil. I have ice cold air now.
no UV dye just leak sealer.A/C fan turning
