The honda kids will put little breather filters on there because they think it makes them awesome.

the spitting oil part is normal.
the blowing air out is normal.
even a little bit of smokey steam looking stuff is normal (depends on the kind of oil you use)
but if it is like smoking smoking, then you have a problem

here's a little write up on the pcv valve.

can't remember if it is any good or not, I just scanned through it real quick.

without seeing it, i would say that beyond that, the valve seals need to be done.

actually, this one seems a little bit better as far as write ups go.
PCV Valve Replacement
What he said^ and...

LOL exactly, dont put a breather there, keep it routed to the intake. If that piece is loose and coming out causing oil to leak either get another valve cover(They are like $10-$20 in the f/s section) or have it welded in place and make a catch can setup or not w/e.

Valve stem seals are not a big job, but definately more advanced than changing oil,thermo,belts,etc- you just have to get the tool from advance or auto zone on rent a tool that allows you to do this while the head is on the car. Your just pulling the valve cover and cams out which takes like 20 mins with taking your time making sure everything is put in a nice clean place and marking cam gears w/chain etc...its not that hard.

Maybe its the maf if it only dies out after being warmed up(Closed loop). Or then the iacv getting stuck shut/clogged...

I have a spare maf and I think TPS i could lend you to see if that fixes the dieing if you wanna meet up w/the wing somtime soon, lmk dude, i will try to help as much as i can.
