as for the motor work, i'm assuming that most is covered under recalls? or am i going to bite off more than i can chew?
final ???, planned mods are just intake, headers, test pipes, y pipe and cat back, what kind of gains if i have it tuned by martin should i expect with those simple bolt ons? i'm not chasing power anymore, but would like to be faster than stock, sound nice, and have the power band to be able to kick it out at the occasional drift event...
You can tell by looking at the motor. The variable timing assemblies (cover bulge, solenoid) will be clearly visible on the front of each head. Rev-up are variable on both cams. Standard DE is just variable on the intake side.
The front lower transverse bushing has many options. The compression arm can only be replaced with another stocker or the SPL bearing equivalent. The 04.5+ cars got the revised compression arm bushing, which lasts longer.
All the cars you're looking at won't be under drivetrain warranty. 5yr 60k miles. I only have 44k, but my 05 is already too old. I wouldn't worry about it. People bitch about using 1/2qt per 1k miles. Oil changes are every 3750miles and the car holds 5qts. Not a big deal.
With Nismo headers, some sort of exhaust, and the right intake manifold, you could be in the 280whp range. SG Motorsports has longtube headers, exhaust, and an intake manifold and make 300+whp. The rev-up cams are bigger and have more potential. All the non-HR's will dyno in the 235-250whp range stock.
My Project Mu NS pads and SPL compression rod bearings come in tomorrow. I'll throw in some ATE typ200 at the same time. Nothing like waiting until the last second before the Dragon roadtrip.
