I'd be one of the guys that would do a carb conversion to that motor too.

They have the stand alone ignition for the 4.6/5.4 engines. But with variable valve timing you'd need a combo controller that ran the 'VTEC' along with the ignition. I dont think the motor would make as much power with out the variable valve timing unless you went with custom cams and disabled it. Thats an expensive prospect no matter how you look at it. 4v cams are $$$$$

As popular as the new 5.0's are I have no doubt in my mind the aftermarket will be cashing in on people wanting to faster. It wasnt long after the first 5.0's came out and a whole plethora of parts hit the market that we never had before. I mean it took over 25 years for the aftermarket to make a head for for the SBF,.. the old cast iron Dart head. Even TrickFlow's first head was cast iron. The hot lick back in the day was swapping Cleveland heads to the Windsor motors. Now look at the choices we have. I think in 3 - 5 years time there will be so much crap flooding the market for these new 5.0 motors the average guy should be able to afford most of it. Some of the stuff out now is ridiculously priced. A Triax Shifter, Barton bracket and new ball or handle will set you back $400. If thats the new trend then the days of $100 shifters are gone. I remember back in 1989 cringing at paying $125 for a Hurst shifter for my new GT. I didnt pay that much for the 4.10 ring and pinion,.. (which has also gone up in price LOL). I'm slowly turning into one of those old fuckers who says "I remember paying a nickel for my Coke". Actually they were $.25 when I was a kid. See what I mean?
