I already have an MSD DIS2 ignition system once I get to that point. I just don't like Ford's engine management with the Escort. It has good days and bad days. I just want all the days to be the same 
. It literally has times when you start it up where it feels like someone stuck a sock in the exhaust and other days where it feels very stout.
What are you going to do as far as a fuel/timing solution? I assume you could get a chip custom burned. Is there really anything out there you could use besides a custom harness for something like a Pectel or Haltech?
