I agree with William. His arguments are directed toward the general population, and if you leave your Toyota Love out of this (I had to), you'll see that he's absolutely right. But, at the same time, everyone's different. I could care less about any of the new cars out. Japanese or American, none of the new cars appeal to me. And no American cars appeal to me either way. I never plan on buying a new car, because I'm stuck in the 80's and 90's, and frankly, I like it. Cars made in the '80's hatchback style will never come back. Auto Manufacturers try to bring it back with modern styling, and it just doesn't work for me. I was very disappointed when the new 350Z came out, because I had known it was supposed to replace the 300ZX, which I thought looked great. The new FT-86 is kinda cool looking, but SO not my style.

There will always be people with this view about cars, but the general population always moves on to the newer bigger and better things. The general population ALWAYS precedes the enthusiasts when it comes to the value of cars.

I highly doubt William is trying to steer you away from buying either an MK3 or an MK4 Supra. To my understanding, he's simply providing his own insight onto your argument about how the value of the Supra will fluctuate within the next decade.
