have you driven one of the new mustangs with a solid rear axel setup? they can be setup to handle awesome. some of the fastest cars in scca have solid rear axels. and yes, i understand about toyota loyalty, i have 3 mk2 supras as they are my fav car of all time. that wont ever change. but there arnt many mk4 owners that are like that, hell, i turned down a 94 black/black n/a 5 speed hardtop for $4,400 from a friend of the family when i had the cash in the bank, because i prefere my mk2 over a mk4. as mentioned by others, alot of people wanted a mk4 for the "cool" factor. that was all due to the f&f movies. that fad has died off and the "cool" things to own have changed. yes its still "cool" to own a mk4, but nothing like it used to be. pull up a fully kitted s15 silva conversion murdered out next to a mk4 at the same gas station. most everyone will crowd the s15 over the mk4. yes, true gear heads in the know would look at the supra first, but the most noticable would be the slower, s15 drifto fad car.

as a friend of mine used to say back in the day, "youll get more ass with a slow honda with a body kit then you will with a fast old school toyota!" sad but true. at least the mk4 can still get some ass cause "isnt that the car from the movie?"
