The Type R Prep port n polish that David Green did on my B16 head with the valve job, head work that was done by Extreme Performance in Stuart, FL along with the head/intake/exhaust package I used made the power difference in my LSVTEC.
He also did some port work on a stock B16A engine for a guy who didn't have a lot of money to put into his car just to see what a difference would make. I went for a ride after and the car picked up a lot of low end torque and through the mid range. A stock B16A with low end torque? Yep.
Flow rates through the head can be measured so therefore a PNP job is worth it and even more so when the rest of the head is done properly.
For PNP work: David Green 321.632.6558. Referred by Angela. He also built an LS Turbo for a guy up in SC if you would like to ask him questions about the build you can call him.
So did you perform a back to back dyno se-ssion on the same dyno to prove your "power" findings?
I have tuned over 400 honda/acura vehicles, everything from sohc all motor setups to k-series turbo setups.
I can attest to 90% of "ported" heads not making a difference or actually hurting performance. Why? Improper porting jobs/sloppy work. Bigger is not always better etc.
About 10% of the vehicles that come in with a "ported" head job actually make more power. They are usually heads from portflow and alanz.
To the OP: Unless some one has a flow bench & tons of spare heads of the same casting as yours laying around to experiment with, I wouldn't even bother letting them port your head.
