Its all about being able to take it out, and knowing when you don't need to wear it. Do I agree with that? No.
But its the name of the game when it comes to professionalism. Sooner or later, tattoos and piercings will be more widely accepted, so people like me don't have to cover up who they are, for the sake of Joe Schmo asshole who doesn't agree with them.
17 tats and working on a sleeve at the moment. I agree that there are environments where they are unprofessional and don't present the desired appearance, so I accept the requirement to wear long sleeves even in 99 degree weather. There comes a time in your life when you have to decide to work and get what you want or live at mommy's and daddy's house till you're 40.
Some jobs are more excepting than others.
