Yeah because engine designation is what determines power output and you know it. Your just ignoring that. You know for a fact that the VK your using as an example is not tuned or built to make 400hp like the LS6 was. If nissan wanted it to make 400hp they could easily do so. So your argument is completely irrelevent based on that. The engine was not designed to make gobs of power, it was designed to be efficent at pulling stuff. GM wanted more out of the LS1 so guess what they had to do, Change a hole bunch of shit to make more power and not surpsingly it did. And as chris stated Nissan decided to upgrade the VK motor finally and it makes 420hp, and its still not even in a sports car designed to go fast like the LS6 was. womp womp womp.
