Correct. Because due to the fact that 1st gear is numerically higher than than say 3rd or 4th, thus takes less Hp to move the car because its multiplying the torque output. In the higher gears there is more load on the clutch because the tranny is transferring more rwhp to the tires (Hence why they dyno cars in 4th (or whatever 1:1 is) because the ratio is lower.

Thats why on some serious race clutches they have increasing clamping force as the rpms increase. Mcleod sells them. Expensive.
