the easiest way to build credit is to get a secured loan. I did this a few years ago to boost my score. Take your down payment to a credit union, and tell them you would like a secured loan for the amount $ you have. Their going to give you a check right back. Make a payment or two, then pay it off. Do this 2-3 times, then apply. I boosted my score from a 580 to a 695 over the course of 2 loans and 6 months. It will also be wise of you to pull your credit report at
www.annualcreditreport.com to make sure there are no errors or omissions on there - and there usually is.
