Its stainless so it isn't going to rust. It will just turn orange over time.

Nope, just abrasive material. I am using one of those disks that is made of course scotchbright like material.

The part that is making this difficult is the baked on earth that has built up after years on the road and 130K miles.

Its like removing a ceramic coating.

Now I have most of the grime removed I will start soon on the actual polishing.

Actually 'polishing' may be a misnomer for what I have planned. I just want the surface to have a brushed metallic surface which is a lot easier to do than polish. Its not like anyone needs to see there reflection in it. Its just an under car exhaust pipe after all.

The stainless muffler is also getting a the same treatment since its also pretty visible and dingy.
