there really is no need for you to replace the ecu if nothing is wrong with the current one.
I took a bad ecu to a guy here in town who thought he could reconstruct the paths that the leaky caps destroyed, he was unable to fix it, but was able to spray it with a substance that will prevent leaky caps from ruining circut paths. It was a TV repair shop on 49th street in St. Pete. I would recommend getting it sprayed with that substance to prevent a ruined ecu.
And chaning the ecu is very simple. You will have a little trouble getting the ecu back in there (well I fought with mine for a bit) but otherwise...its very simple.
