Ecu
I haven't had problems with it- no smell or anything. but I bought one anyway cause it was so cheap. Is it a good idea to replace it anyway? And where can I get it done, and what price should I expect? It's a 91, and has about 126,000 miles.
Thanks for any help....

ECU is incredibly easy to replace, you can do it yourself. Pull up the carpeting around the center console, under the radio and unbolt it. Un-plug and then plug in the new one. That simple. The only was to see if you need a new ECU since you arent noticing any problems is to open it up and see if any of the caps are leaking. Again, only 4 screws to open it up i believe. Good luck

there really is no need for you to replace the ecu if nothing is wrong with the current one.
I took a bad ecu to a guy here in town who thought he could reconstruct the paths that the leaky caps destroyed, he was unable to fix it, but was able to spray it with a substance that will prevent leaky caps from ruining circut paths. It was a TV repair shop on 49th street in St. Pete. I would recommend getting it sprayed with that substance to prevent a ruined ecu.
And chaning the ecu is very simple. You will have a little trouble getting the ecu back in there (well I fought with mine for a bit) but otherwise...its very simple.
