Most dog owners are guilty of Anthropomorphism. That is giving human traits to animals. Thing is they are dogs! Understand how dogs really think and you will be way ahead of the game. Dogs are pack animals.. Beloved Fidoe will become Cudjoe given the right circumstances.
I agree that dogs are great companions, can be loyal, and are wonderful listeners. They can be trained to do amazing things. Much more than simple bite dogs. When it is all said and done they are still pack animals. They will push the envelope and shortcut you when they can. They can be lying, cheating, sneaky bastards. Some breeds are bigger offenders than others.
My number one rule when having a dog in the house as a pet is this. Never own a dog that shits bigger turds than you do.
