Tommy, is it possible that he is floating the valves at 4500 rpm? I know I had a million mile 302 once that had weak springs and would float around 4500 rshared_pm.
He picked up as a project for a good deal. I dont think he knows for sure whats in it, only what he was told. Very good posibility on vavle float.
Being you have the feul pump and wire straightened out, Strart tuning the carb. I think you'll find it'll still be lean.
Does it have an MSD-6AL? Cant remember. If so check the limiter chip.
