ok well i figured the problem out...without even totally removing the pulley! but after this im gonna start ripping out al the acc. belts and see how bad the crank is damaged...my buddy has 3 single cam longblocks so im not as mad as i normally would be. just didnt feel like doing an engine today damnit! lol

but this was so good, i had to share my pain and missery with everyone!
this is what i see so far

1.)theres a slight gap between the center pulley hole and the crank end.
2.)the end of the crank looks chipped pretty bad but idk how deep yet.
3.)no,i didnt remove the key because there wasnt one in it when i took the bolt off
4.)it looks like the wrong pulley all together, like a b series pulley or something, or it just wore either the crank shaft end down or the inside of the pulley to create that type of gap.
this is exactly what it looked like after taking the bolt off....just funny how stupid people can be sometimes. its not fucking science to put a pulley with a key on and tighten a damn bolt...i mean seriously...but i figured i would share for now and its back to work so i can get it off and see how bad the damage really is.

enjoy!

heres how i took the bolt out, still trying to figure out why you would need an extra washer...

but ill be back in a few fellas after everythings off and share some more of my pain with everyone! lol

i dont like to admit it, but in the past when customers didnt or couldnt afford an engine, i would just line it up with a new key, pulley, timing belt, water pump and tensioner and then just weld it up so it cant move...but i cant weld it with this pulley because it doesnt fit over the crank ncie and snug like its supposed to. but if a new one will....i might end up throwing a bead or 2 on there for now.

:side not: none of the ones i welded ever came back for any problems either, in case anyone was wondering. yes, i know its ghetto, but if your broke and need a ride...it will work for sure. plus you can always just grind the welds down. i dont run full beads around it and seam weld the fucking thing. just enough to hold it nice and tight..
