yea, i konw a guy in west palm who is selling one.. the body is rough on the pass side cuz someone side swiped it in a parking garage, but im not worried about it.
I guess i know everything there is to know already:
1990- only 100 units admittedly produced
smooth case NA tranny (not T2 tranny)
revised 5th gear ratio (shorter than other NA's)
4.30 Viscous LSD rear end (GTUs only)
Crank windows
Manual locks
No-tilt steering
Power steering
No factory sun roof
Factory Aluminum Hood
T2 16x7 Mesh wheels
Cloth interior only
No rear seat
AC optional
No rear wiper
Tire inflation sticker on door jamb recommends "205/50/R16" tires.
thats all i can think of right now. apparantly they produced the GTUs model to celebrate their huge winning streak that began in 1979? in the IMSA/GTU manufacturer's class with consecutive wins. the GTUs apparantly could only be had by selecting a combination of option and wasnt a model trim discussed anywhere in the dealer literature (That i have seen so far). In 1989 and 1990, the only trim levels discussed are the GTU (base model), TurboII and Convertible that i have seen in the RX7 Owners manual.
in 1990, i undestand that they only produced 100 units because that was the required amount of units to be produced in order for Mazda to be eligible to compete in the IMSA GTU class of the Manufacturer championship... a Homologation series. I guess 1990 season was the last year they competed in the IMSA GTU series.
Anyone else think of anything i forgot?
