1990 GTUs... tell me everything you know
yeah... i bought that GTUs... for $800
its gonna take some money, time, and dedication to get this car to the level it deserves to be... oh, and i gota show you guys the Firewall VIN stamping... its real weird... never seen anything like it before.
when i said GTU was base model, i meant for the S5 run... the GXL was dropped and the GTU took over that trim level. I was informed by RarestRX on RX7club that in 1990, the GTUs was only ran to a total admitted production of 100 units because that was what was required to participate in the IMSA/GTU class. thats the only time ive heard of it being told like that, so im not sure. but, Rarest hasnt told any bunk stories yet, as far as i know.
and yes, the S5 rotors were lighter than the S4 but that means they cant run as much boost as the S4's... they are named "Zenki" and "Kouki" rotors. according to mazdatrix, i understand that the heavier S4 turbo rotors are desired because they are more sturdy and can withstand higher boost levels... but this was some time ago, i dont know if this info is still valid... so take it w/ a salt shaker.
Ryde is right... all S5 NA's had 160 HP thanks to the revised VDI and lighter rotors... those are the only power-altering differencs i can think of... anyone else?
