K's are very common motors for swaps now and are not that expensive. shit, you can get an accord/crv k24 longblock for $700! which is less than the d- pistons, rods, rings! lol
prices will change depending on the build. eagles and forge pistons(wiesco, je, srp ect.) will go 900+. but eagles and vitara(which have been proven to hold up) can go for 700 w/ bearings and gaskets.
ive seen base model k- series go for 1300. and ive seen typ-s k series swaps go for 5000.
IMO building a d for boost is cheap and still carries plenty of potential. building n/a on the other hand is a waste IMO
