Well thats very weird and something I have to look in to. I HIGHLY doubt he moved the battery to the back, and even more so that the previous lady owner did anything of the sort. I was a tech at BMW for a little while too, and although we rarely had M42s and M44s come in, I dont ever remember anything but the big empty space there where that battery is. I always thought it was kinda funny, since thats where all the important stuff goes on RHD cars and such.

I cant imagine them putting it in the trunk for America and NOT Germany. Again, I'll look into it

EDIT: A random search shows a Bimmerforums tutorial saying that the 318ti is the only one with an engine bay mounted battery over here.

Ultimately, its still not as dumb as a battery hidden in the fender. Like a Vette. Seriously, put that shit in the back, like the foreign companies do. Dont tell me it'd cost too much either, because my red pill has the battery where it should be.
