you jump the plug by disconnecting the plug for the fan switch witch is on the thermostat housing by inserting a wire from one side of the connector to the other. Just like if your were jumping the diagnostic port. I guarantee you your fan is not coming on thats why it only overheats in idle and not when your driving. and if the car takes long to turn on when its hot is probably the ignition coil its probably getting to hot. Usually when it does this its because oil is getting inside the dizzy or your valve cover is leaking oil like crazy into your spark plugs. Hope this helps.
