Actually, I interviewed the organizer himself and he said, "Billetproof is all about 50's and 60's style customs." That includes rat-rods as well as traditionals. And there are plenty of rat-rods at any Billetproof event, thus it is, no matter what they call it, also a rat-rod event.
The only people that seem to take offense to rat-rods are the stuck-up hard-core traditional guys. Many of which just need to shut-up about it. People who don't know the difference between the two don't care, and those that care...know the difference.
