yea. if when you try to start it the starter sounds like its either straining or grniding it will need to be shimmed. alot of the older small blocks and even some big blocks needed shims in them. i had one that needed about 6 shims in it one time. you could only imagine the awful sound that damn thing made without any shims lol.
