The striking lever rides in a channel formed by the ends of the shift rods (3 things I circled). It's possible for a rod to slip or the lever to get behind the end of a shift rod, which would trap it in gear. Sound familiar?
Chris don't get me wrong, the

The strike lever is in the channel, is it possible for the striking lever to have put the transmission in 3rd gear, then fall into another shift fork trapping it in there?
