The why new i vtec works(besides on the rsx type-s) is a two rocker arm vtec, unlike the three rocker vtec on the past. both rocker arms follow their cam lobes with one being slightly bigger then the first. At 2800 rpm, both rocker arms lock toghter and follow the bigger one. I-VTEC also incorporates vairable valve timing.
