The aem wideband uses a proprietary connector to join the sensor with the gauge. Its like a locking clip latch that secures the plug. Then the gauge itself has a group of wires for power, ground, and an output. There is no illumination wire as the gauge has a small photosensor in the face that auto-dims the gauge at night.
I would know this, I have one in my car right now, I installed and wired it myself, and it reads properly with a 0-5v WIDEBAND input and output feeding into my S300.
