My original comment was to point out that the fox body is simply faster than the Z06 because the driver is better, not because it could handle better. I've also seen alot of mustangs at autocrosses with stock suspensions, because you obviously can't change the shocks/springs when you run in a stock class. The most suspension work I've ever seen on a mustang in my class was coilovers, but that was an 05 GT, not exactly a fox body. I still beat him by 2+ seconds with just my lowering springs and street tires. Using the layout of the vehicle is also a poor argument; my car is an overhanging FF, which is the best layout you can find as far as straight line stability under normal driving conditions, but has shortcomings on the track. Any disadvantage caused by poor weight distribution or drivetrain layout can be very easily compensated for with relatively cheap suspension components. Dive/lift can be counteracted by springs, roll/understeer/oversteer can easily be remedied with an anti-roll bar. My MFactory 22mm rear sway bar was the first suspension mod I put on the car so it would actually turn in and rotate, though my LSD helps with that as well. A fox body could be made to handle much better with these small mods, the problem I see is that better is still terrible for that chassis. Especially the verts with their complete lack of rigidity.

Nobody cares about your car. Especially in this forum.
