you need more than just the gear...you also need the install kit which comes with bearings, shims, etc...and fluid which isn't cheap...plus the labor to get down there.
This is somewhat true...I mean, gears are how much? About $200. Then the install kit is how much? About $100. You have to add in the labor, which is about $75 per hour depending on which shop you go to.
(Too much IMO, but I'm not a shop owner either.
)
