I need a little help with a valve-train noise.
So I finally finished doing the head swap on my car which currently consists of a typhoon intake, E303 cam, and now performer 60379 heads. Everything I've read says the performer 60379's use stock valve-train. Thats actually why I bought them...
Well I fired it up earlier and theres quite a bit of noise coming from what I assume is the valve train.
When I torqued the rockers they were almost all hitting at like 1.25 turns. So I got some shims and shimmed them so that they hit 18lbs in anywhere from a 1/2 to a little under a full turn. I'm using stock pushrods and stock rockers. From the posts I've read, I understand that if it hits after 1 turn you need shims and if it hits before, you need pushrod, correct? The heads and 24lb injectors were the only altercation I did, I was going from stock E7's with the exact same set-up and no noise at all.
The only other thing I could think of would be that maybe having the lifters full of oil prevented me from getting proper pre-load due to them hitting torque sooner instead of compressing a little?
Anyone in the Largo/Seminole area want to come and take a listen to it lol?
