I was drivin' around in a coupe that supposively had a 6 puck clutch in it... unsprung I believe, and other than the pedal feeling different, I didn't drive it any differently and didn't notice any more or less noise... if you say that it felt "normal" then it was not a ACT unsprung 6 puck, you know you're rocking a unsprung as soon as you let off the clutch.... it's like a on/off switch, like it's either engaged or it's not.... you can feel it in your foot, and if you have a motor with any kind of power, you can tell when it's slipping and when it's not... believe me, there is a MAJOR difference.... if you have to ask if it feels normal, it's probably a ACT disk, or at best, sprung 6 puck
as for cheap clutches, i know about those.... my current set up is a Fidanza flywheel, with a brand new friction plate, a ACT unsprung 6 puck clutch disk, and a F1/XTD "stage 3" pressure plate.... i bought the F1 clutch for similar reasons as OP, money was tight at the time... and i'm now regretting it as the cheap ass pressure plate cannot keep up with the FW and ACT clutch. Now i can hear what little friction there is before full engagement.... it sucks.... it still grabs like a motherfucker, enough to hold you on the banks, but the PP sucks... been rokcing it like this for little over two months, and i'm punching myself in the head for cheaping out and buying the Ebay "stage 3" clutch kit and using the PP.... now i have an awesome FW, a bad ass, clutch disk, and a shitty ass PP...
thank god i'm getting a ACT unsprung Clutch kit when i swap all my part off my current S14 to transfer onto my new S14...
it will be a time of not cheaping out, and doing things the way i should have....
you live and learn... next time, i'll save $$$ and take the advice everyone gave me when they said NO EBAY CLUTCHS!!!!!
