I never charge friends for photos either, but I have the few that always do the whole "here, atleast take 20bucks" thing. I mean if it was a special occasion like a wedding or big birthday then yea they might pay that price because it's a memory they want to keep. If I take photos of someones car it takes me an hour at max, then maybe an hour with PP. That would be $700 according to you and wow I would have a guilty conscience. It's something I like to do and I'd feel wrong doing that just for some photos. Yes they are done by someone that knows what they are doing... but $350/hr... geez. Vegas must me alot more expensive to live in than FL
Right now I have on my website an automotive shoot is $100 + travel charges if not in my zipcode.
And everything else is $45/hr + travel charges. I originally had it at like $75/hr but I felt bad and changed it

He charges $350 for big/important events, not little spur of the moment car shoots for friends.
That is his profession and he obviously has a good reputation in Vegas since he gets to shoot all these big events. If he can charge $350 an hour and have steady customers, more power to him.
I'm sorry but a random joe that goes out and buys an XSI or any other base model DSLR is not a professional. It's merely a hobby. If people want pictures of their car, use it as an opportunity to better yourself and improve your photography.
