It's not a simple issue to just run out and fix. Upgrading software can help, as can upgrading hardware. Part of the problem is that the search function on the forums wasnt built to search through a very large database that is shared between 2 sites with millions of posts.
A lot of the content on TR is index'd in google and sometimes using the google search can find you what you want, it's not always perfect though so for right now, disabling search when things get very loaded is the only option.
i think more people should donate to the site to help with the costs of new hardware. TR has been here for us for a long time and tons of people enjoy it for free, and never donate at all. i've noticed that alot of other sites are now requiring users to pay to use the forsale and wanted forums, but TR has never charged anyone a dime! everyone get off your wallets and DONATE to help out instead of crying about any lil thing that changes in here!
i plan to donate more for sure!
also, maybe we could even have some fund raisers in the near future???
