17x10.5 or 18x11 with a 325 tire is as wide are your going to fit in the rear with out major modifications. A 315 will fit with out having to roll the fender lip. Up front a 17x9 or 18x9 with 275 wide tire is typical and fits fine with no rubbing issues.

A typical tire wheel combo is 17x9 up front with 275/40 tires and out back would be 17x10.5 with a 315/35 tire. I ran that combo on a 96 Cobra that had a 2" drop in the front and rear. The rear quad shock dont have to be removed with certain tires. Nitto's fit fine with about a pinky finger between the tire and quad shock. With BFG DR's the tire rubbed the quad shock. With aftermarket lowers removing the quad shock is not an issue.

I have seen wider tires up front on auto cross cars,.. but fender modifications were done.
