There are plenty of good reasons the LS1 is such a popular swap.
- It's been done so many times, there are "universal" LS1 swap mounts, countless swap and wiring guides, and lots of swap documentation.
- The shifter can be located almost anywhere, since the GTO, F-body, CTS-V, Viper, Aston Martin, Mustang, etc. all had different placement of it on the T-56.
- The engine is a very compact design for the displacement it offers. This makes it less likely you'll need to do things like cut into your shock towers, hood, radiator supports, firewall, etc.
- The use of the LSx engine in so many OEM vehicles makes for a variety of styles of motor mounts, accessory mounts, fuel hookups, and oil pan orientation (front or rear sump!).
-Ridiculous aftermarket support, parts availability and cost, ease of serviceability, etc.
-Up to 500WHP NA on a stock shortblock.
