I know for a fact that the front wheels change out. You can use an 01-04 wheel on 05-06 forks if you use the 05-06 axle and spacer. There are a few people on gixxer.com that have done it. Also, a friend of mine had 05-06 1K wheels on his 04 1K. I just talked to him today about it and he said everything is a straight swap, except the front rotors since the 01-02's are 320mm, 03-04's are 300mm, and 05-08 are 310mm.
