I'll be trying out a technique that I don't normally do, called "FAS" (force auto-start). Fancy name for "turning off the engine while coasting in neutral and then restarting the engine by letting the clutch out in gear with the car still moving". Using this method in conjunction with "pulse and glide" to extend the glide should pay big dividends on a long trip like this, especially on some of the lonely back roads. That's what should push me beyond 55 mpg... or so goes the theory.
