36 highway. 60 is a stretch, but I'm hearing from people who have done as much as 58... so my initial goal of 55 should be achievable. I've done 50 mpg before with the AC on, so I'm positive that AT LEAST 53 should be possible.

I'll be trying out a technique that I don't normally do, called "FAS" (force auto-start). Fancy name for "turning off the engine while coasting in neutral and then restarting the engine by letting the clutch out in gear with the car still moving". Using this method in conjunction with "pulse and glide" to extend the glide should pay big dividends on a long trip like this, especially on some of the lonely back roads. That's what should push me beyond 55 mpg... or so goes the theory.

Yeah, we're still on. As far as I know, Bruce (the other Yaris guy) is still coming. And I'll be there. Maybe some walk-ups, maybe not. So far, just two cars, four people.

If we have just a few cars, we'll probably run it without a checkpoint worker unless you just feel like making the run. We'll work it out Sunday morning.

your the one that lives out in the boondocks as a city boy from a little tike. I'll never live in the 'burbs again. I drive every day and still only fill up twice a month. when I lived in the burbs It was every third day UGH. the fact that within 1 mile of my shop I have 5 machine shops, and 6 shops that do custom hydraulic fabrication, really makes my working on Suspension and brakes a dream.
