Seriously, stop and do a little bit of research before you post.
Shimming valve springs to get the CORRECT installed height is the right way to do things, its common practice after a valve job, other machine work etc. Just getting a set of bc springs and slapping them in with no measuring or shimming, like you would suggest, would actually be the "ghetto rigging" way...
LOL at you,
Really cuz of all the SR head's ive worked on and seeing that i built my SR from the crank up
When ever I upgraded valve springs the FSM never mentioned anything about measuring Valve spring Shims for install.
Now what your probably thinking about is the Rocker arm shims and guides, which determine the clearance between the Cam shaft lobes
and the Rocker arm
Quote: Valve shim clearance Adjustment
Determine proper shim size when REPLACING valve, cylinder head, shim, rocker arm guide or valve seat.....hm nothing about springs....weird

Tomei 162004 162005 162006 Valve Spring Sheet Set 8pcs SR20DET
Ok how much shorter are the GTIR Valve spring first off?
1/4 in? 1/8 in?
Cuz as you posted those shims are for BLUE PRINTING your valve train Not filling a gap between the Spring and retainer
Cuz the thickest size the offer is .5MM! which is .019685 of an inch, i dont think Tomei expected to pile 5-6 of those shims on top of each other especially when they are 75 bucks a pop
Anyway im tired of beating a dead horse, your engine do whatever you wanna do with it, im done Peace out
