I really dont know. I grew up in Wash DC. And thats where I first used the term as far back as I wanna say,.. 1984 - 1985,.. when the Honda Interceptor bikes came out. The 700 and the 1000 were pretty quick. And we used the term rice rockets. Then along came cars like the Izuzu Imark, the Mitsubishi Conquest TSI, Turbo Celica and they wanted to hang with us,.. we called them ricers. No,.. they werent allowed to hang with us.

What you guys call ricers today,.. we called them Ghetto mobiles. Because it was black guys and mostly the hispanic guys that put all the cheap fender flares, curb feelers, the fake TV limo wing on the trunk of a Corolla,.. shit lke that. We called them Ghetto birds or Ghetto Mobiles.
