I tend to see cops speeding around with out lights/sirens alot here in St.pete. I think that should be illegal if it already isn't. I dont see how its possible for them to be able to break the law when they are doing nothing but driving around town. Lights or sirens is one thing (especially if they need to be some where quick) but if they dont have one or the other on then they need to follow the rules like every one else. They are not above the law.... Especially since we are the ones paying for they're fucking gas...
It also pisses me off when I see officers being impatient so the flick the lights on when at a stop light and drive though the intersection and continue on there way like there is nothing going on. Its not like they are on call either, they just dont want to sit at the light. I've been seeing a lot more of this lately and I find it really irritating.
Give ya a little info on law enforcement. certain calls require the officer to not use lights and sirens. for instance: burglary in progress. not saying that he was justified in this situation but lights and sirens are not required for every call where an officer has to put on the haul ass.
so don't assume that cops just flick their lights on to go through a red light, they are usually going to a call that requires some urgency but does not require lights and sirens. I hate when people are uneducated with the workings of law enforcement are quick to jump to conclusions.
