My original SR20DET spun a bearing and scored the crank up pretty good due to oil starvation so a replacement crank is a must. I can get a remanufactured crank for $200 but I'd rather have a clean used OEM crank if I could find one for a reasonable price. I'd want to rering the pistons, replace all the bearings, just hone the cylinders to clean them up, replace the valve seals, etc. Just a nice clean stock rebuild. The problem I see if finding a shop that knows what they're doing.

Does anyone have a rough idea of what a stock rebuild should/will cost me if I do the teardown and rebuild myself?

Would it be cheaper for me to stuggle and find a stock longblock somewhere? I got my last one from XAT around 6 years ago and it held out great until I ran it out of oil being a dumbass. The problem I see there is that I've been unable to find an unmolested SR longblock anywhere for a reasonable price.
If things are the same as much as i've read, you could go to the junkyard and pull a crank from a FWD SR20DE. Say $50

Gasket set $200
Bearings $140
Rings $85

Have the block hot tanked, and I suppose have the machine shop hone it, I dont think you'll spend more than $200 on the two.

Misc other crap $50

So $750 or so.
