The point is depending on how effiecent the cooling system is will determine how well it will cool. If you have a cooling system that doesnt not get heat soaked and can dissipate the heat fast enough you could run with out a thermostat. I've used 160's also but i also had a BE COOL 3 core aluminum radiator, a Mark VII fan with a HI-flow FMS water pump. i could sit in traffic with the fan on the low speed and it would never go above 180.
