The first Holden "utes" were more like traditional pick-up trucks only with a solid body (almost unibody style much like some of the 40's Chevy and Ford trucks) while the 1959 El Camino was truly car based much like what the Ute turned into.
Us Yanks got it done first...yeehaw I guess.
