The first Holden "utes" were more like traditional pick-up trucks only with a solid body (almost unibody style much like some of the 40's Chevy and Ford trucks) while the 1959 El Camino was truly car based much like what the Ute turned into.

49 years. With ford having the rancheron 2 years before. And looking at the page you posted, I really think we got the cooler one. Looks like all you got was a little 6 banger for the longest time then some small v8s
