The actual vacuum process is quite different to using CF as you would fiberglass.
With all that said, again, if you didn't know that the majority of CF hoods on the market are gel coated and you are here giving advice and making us believe that you've worked on a $100k Mustang with a CF hood, ummm, I call BS.
Furthermore, if you think you can simply wetsand and buff gel coat, not only will you NOT work on my $100k Mustang, but you'd not come close to even work on my salvage cars sitting in the back of shop.
On top of all that, who in their right mind would have a $100k Mustang? I mean, unless it's a classic, then OK, but you are saying that it has a CF hood, so I doubt it's a classic. I was dumb a few years ago and bought an American made truck, cost me over $40k and as soon as I drove it off of the lot, it was not worth $20k........I think you guys get the point.
Listen man,I'm not one to get into an internet argument.I could give two shits what you or any one of you painting buddies think,I've never disrespected any of you painters, you guys come on this site and bad mouth any person that asks a question about painting something, what's wrong with someone wanting to learn something? What you think your the best painter out there?Sorry bro,I hate to burst you bubble you live in,but your not.If you come on here and post, how about you get off your highhorse and help some young kid out with a anwser instead of a smart ass remark, hell, everthink it might get you some work one day down the road?
As far as the hood,no I don't know everything about carbon fiber,I don't make them nor do I deal with them.I said I wet sanded and buffed out only one that the owner told me was cleared.
The Mustang was not a classic,I didn't mean the car was worth $100K,it's got over that into it though,it's a race car,and the owner of a very good speed shop in Tampa. But here's another part of you bad mouthing someone and you don't even know the facts.
As far as wet sanding gel coat,my ass you can't,I do it all the time, hell,I've grinded gouges out of gell coat with 800 grit on a d/a and brought it back out. What, you think boats can't be wet sanded?I did it for years. Not everything needs a $7000 paint job.
As far as me or you,I could care less if I ever did work for or met you.To me,your just one of those cocky ass painters who "thinks" his shit don't stink.Lean a lill bit closer, roses really smell like poopoo.
You got knowledge/skills?Teach or help someone with it,don't bad mouth them for asking questions.
