That 10% ethanol is actually worse than just straight gas. It doesn't burn properly because none of our engines, let alone fuel maps, are designed for that crap. So we are actually dumping worse shit into the air than when we were burning normal fuel.

ok, before you keep running your mouth with lack of knowledge to decreased NOx gases, run and do a the chemical balance on e10 real quickly. Any of the various forms if you'd like (yes, not all gasoline has the same chemical composition)
Most OEM's are actually designed to operate on it up to 30% ethanol as well. So once again, you are wrong.
The only downside is that you do get worse mileage and thus use more...it still balances out to be better for the environment in the end as the decreased NOx gases and carbons outway the slight increase in used fuel.

the part that isn't outweighed and often overlooked is the farm equipment used to harvest it. The process of creating is has fewer emissions than fuel refining however. Those that operate on bio-diesel however do yield about 50% less carbon emissions and again lower NOx emissions than those that run the red.
